whats to come in the new year?

Sunday was a fabulous Electra Socket show down at prism. SPIDER-MAN!!!. We all enjoy the antics of our hometown diva, no matter how many times I see her sometimes crude but horribly ORIGINAL drag comedy style I just can not get enough of her, I know she cares as much about our community as I do. ELECTRA YOU ARE ONE OF A KIND and WE LOVE YOU!!!

Well the New Year is upon us Girls, and Jaky's show is coming up this Sunday. I have been thinking of the perfect way to wrap up a great year in our drag community. What better than to do a BEST OF 2007 wrap up show in honor of all the queens who have cum and gone? I will be dedicating numbers and taking requests meet me at PRISM LOUNGE at 10:30 Sunday January 6 for the first show of 2008!!!!

Jakyllyn Hyde's the Christmas Spirit

Well kids, last night was fabulous.
For those who were not in attendance last night was "Jakyllyn Hyde's the Christmas Spirit" show (otherwise known as the annual Ho! Ho! Whoe! Show). Every year the local queens get together and put on a huge production show fundraiser to benefit the Victoria Pride Society. At the beginning of the month the show was going as planned and last minute four of the scheduled seven performers pulled out unexpectedly. AHHHHH!!!!.. Not to worry all we are talking the Jakyllyn Hyde here, I of course pulled up my big girl panties and stepped it into high gear to learned four new Christmas numbers just for the event.. The turn out was AMAZING and we raised quite a bit of money. We sold Cherry and Strawberry candy canes for one dollar each and even had large donations from the bar staff...
Thanks again to my fabulous team, Electra Socket, Toby Pierce, Bartender Terry and DJ extraordinaire Tin-Tin
Unfortunately my dear photographer and friend Lisa was not with us as she had previous Christmas plans, (we missed you hun) I will attempt to get pictures from the show and post in the future but for now here is the poster.

Kisses
until next time who loves jakyllyn hyde.

The Boa Shows Turned 13

Jaky was in Vancouver over the Weekend and had the pleasure of attending the glamourous thirteen year anniversary of the (Feather) Boa Shows at the Odyssey Sunday December 9th... Congratulations go out to the hostesses Joan-E and Justine Tyme, and the best thing to happen to a drag show since the tape-deck DJ Jules. with special guest pure diva action all the way Ms. CoCo.

The history of these shows is as vast as the performers themselves..
It all began over twenty years earlier when a division of owners brought about a new club called the Odyssey on Howe Street in Vancouver B.C. from the get go the owners wanted a strong show with steady hosts that could keep the crowd coming back (who doesn't... LOL) Past hosts have included such immense talents as Empress XV & XX Myria Le Noir, and Empress XIX Willie Taylor, to Empress III Sandy St. Peters, but no one has had as much of a lasting impact as the current talents of Joan-E and Justine Tyme. It wasn't always easy said Joan-E as she bridged to a montage dedicated to the the past thirteen years she told of past attempts to keep hosts and the casting of future Empress' XXVIII Joan-E and XXX Diana Rose in 1994 followed by the coaxing of Calgary Glamour queen Justine Tyme in 1995. The drag community lost a mentor and friend in 2001 with Diana Rose but she would never be forgotten. The Feather Boa show did not replace their third host instead welcoming a third guest weekly, these guests have always ranged from the glamorously imperial to the hip and trashy. Regular talents including Carlotta Gurl, Willie Taylor and Vivian Von Brokenhymen, they have tested the hands of time and with hope together Joan-E and Justine will continue to entertain our Sunday nights for at least one more year. Congrats Girls and Good Luck into the New Year.

The Most Fabulous of Random Show Highlights

Well It's finally December and as promised I am bringing to you a follow up to my show last Sunday... a little late but I was worked to near death by this weekend I was working with a slight cold and the rain does not heed the weak of health i suppose... The Random Show was a great success thanks to the help of great performers we pulled it off..
a little story: this week was to originally be an Electra Socket show and she had decided to take the week to herself and rest.. (lest we forget she is the other half of the Victoria Drag scene lol) I strategically put together a very fun and random of shows including the one and only Aliyah Ice and Toby Pierce-McCrotch only to arrive a full hour early to the face of Ms Gay herself Electra Socket in full Drag.. she had forgotten to take the week off and was not going to go home now..
well it was going to be Myself the infamous Princess of Whales Jakyllyn Hyde, Impersonator extraordinaire Aliyah Ice, Spitfire Drag brother Toby Peirce-(McCrotch) and the Straight-Shooting Trailer-Chic comedy of Electra Socket (P.S. apparently Electra loves Jagger). Thankfully we all bring different talents to our art and put them to good use pulling off one of the best shows I've been apart of in a very long time (Where are you Ryann Ginger :( )...

Here take a look at some highlights.. any questions? lol

Jakyllyn Hyde's the "Origin of Love"

Electra "Drives All Night" to find the Light

a TOUGH act to follow Toby Pierce

Aliyah Ice takes the crowd to Church

Jaky closes the show out with Taylor the Latte Boy (my tits broke that bra!)

ready or not here comes mamma

Last night was a spectacular night to be at Prism lounge, my mom even made an appearance. I preformed a flawless Ready or Not Show and even squeezed in time for a few requests.. I love performing for an attentive crowd and last night was a pure pleasure, though only a small audience you were completely in the moment with me, Thank You... For those who have never been to a READY or NOT show, (what the hell are you thinking) its a perfect combination of wit, lip sync and pure improvisation, twenty drag numbers are placed into a box, randomly through out the hour long show numbers are selected and without rehearsal I am forced to preform the song. Honestly these are my favorites, I love the interaction with the audience and everyone loves to see drag queens squirm... It has been a long time since my mom has attended my shows and it really is a sign I know we are on the right track.

In other news I am looking for new talents, I would love to put some new girls in there first real show, I have the time and dedication to make you flawless. email me for details. hyde_n_outt(at)shaw(dot)ca (i don't add email to blog posts as crawlers will send me stuff i don't need)
